About Carmelo Colasanto MS
Carmelo Colasanto is the Reform UK Member of the Senedd for Sir Gaerfyrddin, elected in May 2026. A proud Welshman of Italian heritage, Carmelo was born in Baden, Switzerland, in 1964 and moved to Wales with his family in 1970, where he has lived ever since.
Before entering frontline politics, Carmelo built a successful career in the retail and business sectors, holding a number of senior leadership roles. His extensive experience in business has given him a strong understanding of the challenges facing employers, workers and local communities across Wales.
Committed to bringing common sense, accountability and practical solutions to Welsh politics, Carmelo stood as Reform UK’s candidate in the 2025 Llangennech by-election, securing victory and demonstrating growing support for Reform across Carmarthenshire. He later secured election to the Senedd as Reform UK’s representative for Sir Gaerfyrddin in the 2026 Senedd election.
As a Member of the Senedd, Carmelo is focused on delivering better public services, supporting economic growth, protecting local communities and ensuring that the voices of people across Carmarthenshire are heard in Cardiff Bay.
Carmelo lives in Llanelli with his family and is a proud father of two children. His roots in the area and lifelong connection to Wales continue to shape his commitment to serving the people of Sir Gaerfyrddin.
