About Gareth Beer MS
Gareth Beer is the Member of the Senedd for Sir Gaerfyrddin (Carmarthenshire), elected in May 2026 as one of the first Reform UK Members ever returned in west Wales.
Born in Pontypool, Gareth moved to Carmarthenshire in 2001 and has made the county his home for more than two decades. After leaving school at eighteen, he built a career in telecommunications retail management before founding his own business in 2006, working in construction services and providing support and accommodation for young people. A hands-on tradesperson and small business owner, he has said this background gives him a direct understanding of the daily pressures facing families, entrepreneurs, farmers and rural communities across Wales.
Gareth’s route into frontline politics was a steady climb rather than a sudden arrival. He first stood for the Senedd in the Llanelli constituency in 2021, and in 2023 was active in the Stradey Park protests in Furnace, Llanelli. At the 2024 general election he came within 1,504 votes of winning the Llanelli parliamentary seat, Reform UK’s strongest performance anywhere in Wales at that contest. He has served as a Kidwelly Town Councillor for the Castle ward since 2022, and as Chairman of Reform UK’s Carmarthenshire branch he helped build the party’s presence across the county.
At the May 2026 Senedd election, held under the new six-member constituency system, Gareth topped Reform UK’s Sir Gaerfyrddin list and was elected, one of three Reform Members returned in the constituency, alongside Carmelo Colasanto and Sarah Edwards. He now represents Carmarthenshire in the Senedd.
A devoted husband and proud father of four, Gareth is a passionate advocate for free speech, a strong supporter of farmers and rural communities, and is committed to creating opportunities for young people across Wales. He has pledged to fight for fair investment for Carmarthenshire, to improve local healthcare and educational opportunities, and to deliver real support for small businesses and farmers, working with local businesses, the council, and both the Welsh and UK governments to secure the opportunities he believes the county deserves.
