Over the past month, Gareth Beer MS has been actively raising key issues affecting residents across Carmarthenshire, holding the Welsh Government to account and pressing for improvements in education, support for local communities, and economic policy.
Standing Up for Carmarthenshire Communities
On 14 July, Gareth called for a Welsh Government statement on support available to constituents and local communities facing ongoing challenges. He emphasised the need for practical assistance and clear communication from Ministers to ensure residents receive the help they need.
Fighting for Better Educational Outcomes
Education has been a major focus of Gareth’s recent work in the Senedd. On 1 July, he questioned the Welsh Government on what action is being taken to improve educational outcomes in Sir Gâr (Carmarthenshire).
During the debate, Gareth highlighted concerns about teacher retention, stressing that good schools depend on good teachers. He challenged the Government on the difficulties schools face in retaining experienced staff and called for action to support the teaching profession and improve standards for pupils across the county.
Backing the Voluntary Sector
Gareth also tabled questions on support for Carmarthenshire’s voluntary sector, recognising the vital role that charities, community groups and volunteers play in supporting local people. He sought assurances that organisations delivering essential services would receive the backing they need from the Welsh Government.
Speaking Out on Net Zero Policies
On 24 June, Gareth challenged Welsh Government Ministers over net zero policies, arguing that many people across Carmarthenshire are increasingly frustrated by political rhetoric rather than practical solutions. He called for greater realism and transparency about the costs and impacts of environmental policies on rural communities, households and businesses.
Delivering a Strong Voice for Carmarthenshire
Whether challenging Ministers on education, advocating for community organisations, or raising concerns about policies affecting rural Wales, Gareth continues to ensure the voices of Carmarthenshire residents are heard in the Senedd.
