This week, history and culture came together as Eisteddfod y Garreg Las arrived in Llantwd.
It is a truly landmark occasion: exactly 850 years since Rhys ap Gruffydd (The Lord Rhys) hosted the very first recorded Eisteddfod at Cardigan Castle in 1176.
Fast forward eight and a half centuries, and our national celebration of poetry, music, language, and performance is thriving right on our doorstep.
With this year’s catchment extending into west Carmarthenshire, this is very much our Eisteddfod too. It brings together communities, highlights local talent, and showcases the very best of our unique Welsh heritage.
On behalf of Gareth Beer MS, Sarah Edwards MS and Carmelo Colasanto MS at Reform UK Carmarthenshire, we want to extend our warmest wishes to every competitor, performer, volunteer, and stall-holder taking part this week. Your hard work, passion, and dedication keep our culture dynamic and alive for future generations.
